‘International Yoga Day’ was celebrated in Kushtia in a great atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy. The day has been celebrated across the world to inspire everyone to incorporate yoga in their daily lives for a healthy body and mind.
This year’s theme of the day has given importance to women. This year’s theme is “Yoga for Women Empowerment”. This theme is to make women more aware of physical and mental health.
In Kushtia, on the occasion, yoga practice was organized on the open stage of Kushtia Shilpakala Academy today on June 21. Indian High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Rajshahi Manoj Kumar supervised the programme.
Rotary Club of Kushtia and Sammilito Samajik Jote, a platform of 55 social organisation, Kushtia implemented the programme. Prominent businessman Ajay Sureka and his wife Smriti Sureka were the initiators of this program in Kushtia.
President of Rotary Club of Kushtia Advocate Mosaddek Ali Moni and Sammilito Samajik Jote chairman Kushtia Dr. Amanur Aman coordinated the event.
Senior vice president of Kushtia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Zakirul Islam, contractor Haji Nurul Islam, Forest and Environment Secretary of Kushtia Sadar Upazila Awami League Ashraful Alam Rubel, Owner of Aristo Computers AMM Roknuzzaman Nantu, former convener of Kushtia Sadr Chhatra League Zainal Abedin, former banker Mohabbat Hossain, ICT expert Ruaim Rabbi, senior organizer of Samilit Samajik Jote Shamim Rana, President of Sapna Prayas Youth Association Sadik Hasan Rohid were present among others.
Yoga is an ancient health caring system of this Indian subcontinent. It is recognized worldwide today. After India’s proposal to the United Nations in 2014, this day has been celebrated across the world. Many national and international health and social organizations around the world also observe the day every year.
