After 4 months and 21 days of closure, 6 intercity passenger trains will start from Pakshi Zone of Railways from Saturday (August 16).
Western Railway Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shahidul Islam confirmed this. .
He said necessary preparations have been made to run the trains. The railway lines are in operation quietly.
“With the relentless efforts of all the officers and employees of the Pakshi Divisional Railway Office, we are working to make the passengers reach their destination in comfort,” he said.
Pakshi Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) Nasir Uddin said the (potential) trains of the Western Railway, which will be launched from Saturday (August 16), are the Rajshahi-Dhaka Rajshahi intercity (659/60), Padma Express, Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route Sundarbans Express (825/626), Ekta Express on Panchagarh-Dhaka-Panchagarh route (605/606), Chilahati Express on Rajshahi-Chilahati-Rajshahi route (633/734), Simant Express on Khulna-Chilhati-Khulna route (746/646) Express (63/64).
Shahidul Islam said that due to the novel coronavirus situation, the social and physical distance of the passengers will be ensured and these trains will run with 50 percent passengers in compliance with the hygiene rules through online ticketing.
However, all standing tickets will be closed. The food supply on the train will be stopped. Railway employees will be able to board the train using the 2% passenger side.
Due to the corona, all intercity-mail-local train services on the Pakshi Divisional Railway on the internal route have been suspended since March 25. A limited range of passenger trains has been announced since May 30.
Passengers were instructed to adhere to strict health guidelines for trains running on a limited range. At the railway station, the passengers were forced to obey various instructions including hand washing, wearing masks and hand gloves.
In the first phase, Rajshahi-Dhaka-Rajshahi Bonalata Express (691/692), Lalmonirhat-Dhaka-Lalmonihat route Lalmoni Express (651/652), Dhaka-Khulna route Chitra Express (3) begins to comply.
