Mahbubur Rashid, son of Hasina Begum and Harun ur Rashid, was also killed in the horrific attack on August 21, 2004. The bodyguard of the then Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina, Mahbub of Fulbaria village in Jayanti Hazra Union of Khoksa upazila of Kushtia was a retired Lance Corporal of the Bangladesh Army.

He said that he has educated his 10 children through many difficulties. He admitted Mahbub to Fulbaria Primary School next to his house. From there Mahbub passed the fifth grade. .
But as there was no money for admission in the secondary school, his maternal uncle Abdur Rob took him and admitted him in the sixth class at Shaheed Khabir Uddin Secondary School in Bahadurpur in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari. Mahbub passed SSC in 1984 from his uncle’s house.
Then Mahbub was forced to take a job at the house of a major level officer of the army with a salary of Tk. 600. He later joined to the Bangladesh Army.
Thanks to Mahbub’s job, the poor family looks a bit comfortable. At the end of the term, he returned to the village and took up business.
Mahbub joined as the personal driver of the then Leader of the Opposition and current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After gaining loyalty and honesty, Mahbub became Sheikh Hasina’s personal bodyguard in a short time.
Mahbub’s mother Hasina Begum is very proud of her son’s honesty, fighting spirit and devotion to responsibility towards people. He said, “My son has sacrificed his life to save Bangabandhu’s daughter.” Request to the Prime Minister that those who killed my son be punished immediately.He said, ‘Mahbub’s wife and two grandchildren regularly look for them. I also dream about my grandson Ashiq and Robin. They will grow up and brighten the face of the country – this is the expectation.
