Police arrested a man allegedly killed his wife, mother of three over quarrel in Khoksa upazila in Kushtia.
Sources said family quarrel was going on between Samela Khatun of East Amlabari village of Gopgram union of the upazila with her husband Mominul Haquw on Wednesday afternoon. The husband beat up Samela.
The dispute between them reached its climax due to this incident.
At night, Samela was beaten again by the heretic husband and at one stage, the housewife dies. The killer husband then hurriedly hanged Samela’s body with the palm of his bedroom and dubbed that she committed suicide.
Family sources of the slain housewife said that her husband had been torturing Samela in minor incidents since the marriage.
Alamgir Hossain, chairman of the local union Parishad, said he went to the house after receiving news.
However, he found the body of the housewife lying on the floor, he told to the journalists.
Sub-Inspector of Khoksa police station Sultan Ahmed said there was no evidence of the housewife's suicide. The incident could have been a murder. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. The deceased's mother and her brother were taken to the police station.
At one point in the police interrogation, husband Mominul Haque pleaded guilty to killing his wife, the SI said.
Officer-in-charge of the police station Zahurul Alam said that Mominul has been shown arrested. An investigation is underway.
