Shahabul hacked to death housewife Rangila of Mirpur in Kushtia as she did not respond his bad proposal.
Police arrested the alleged killer on Monday and told it to reporters.
Sahabul, 27 is son of Touhidul Malitha of Bijnagar village in Fulbaria union of the upazila.
The deceased Rangila, 35, wife of Shafiqul Islam of Naodapara village was killed on Saturday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police station Golam Mostafa said he had confessed to the murder. He alone did it.
OC said Shahabul had been addicted to Rangila for a long time. In many ways he was telling her this. That day he found Rangila alone in the solitude of the field and proposed again on Saturday. But Rangila denies as usual. Enraged, Sahabul slaughtered Rangila with a sickle.
Rangila had been missing since Saturday afternoon. After much searching, the family members did not find her anywhere. Later on Sunday morning, a next door man Ariful Islam went to cut grass in the field and found the body.
Police later recovered the body.
Mirpur police produced Shahabul in court in the afternoon and the court sent him to jail.
