A maximum of 71 people have died in Coronavirus in last 24 hours in 10 district of Khulna division.

Today, Friday, the divisional director at the Department of Health Rasheda Sultana confirmed the information to The Daily Star.

She said, of the death, 23 people have died in Khulna district. Besides, 14 people in Kushtia, 10 in Jhenaidah, 9 in Jashore, 6 Chuadanga, 5 in Meherpur, 2 in Bagerhat and one each from Narail and Magura died.

Ferdousi Akhter, assistant director (Pathology) of the directorate said 1,301 people have died of corona in ten district of the division since the maiden detection of corona patient in Chuadanga on March 19 last year.

Till this morning, a total of 69,187 patients have been identified in 10 districts. One thousand 487 people died to the infection and 44 thousand 727 people recovered.

Dr. Rasheda Sultana further told the daily star that more initiatives are being taken to deal with the situation.

The number of patients infected with corona is increasing rapidly in 10 districts of the division and that is why step has been taken to requisite any big private hospital in Khulna city.

She said talks have already been held with several private hospitals under the direction of the Prime Minister’s Office.

It is expected that the new hospitals will be launched from next Sunday, she asserted.
