The Department of Health has asked the information from all civil surgeons across the country about hospitals and clinics in their areas operating illegally.
It has been instructed to give the information by Thursday— the acting director general of the health department Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said.
He said the operation would be launched this month in coordination with the home ministry.
Khurshid Alam said an emergency meeting had been convened to get information on illegal hospitals and clinics. Civil surgeons have been assigned to each district.
The acting DG of the health also sought the cooperation of the administration and law enforcement agencies, saying it was not possible for the health department to complete the work unilaterally.
At the time, he said, the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim was a tragic and unfortunate incident. The Department of Health regrets the incident.
Earlier, in August, the Department of Health sent letters to all departmental directors and district civil surgeons seeking updated information on all licensed private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers and blood banks in the country.
Besides, the department fixed August 23 for renewal of licenses of private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers and blood banks which are operating without licenses.
