A 12-year-old boy has been beaten up by a grocer Bachchu for allegedly stealing Jhuribhaj (a fried food item of flour) from his shop.
The incident took place at Hatosh Haripur village in Kushtia Sadar upazila.
The boy Siam is the son of Amir of the area.
The beating of the grocer has caused swelling and sores on various parts of the boy’s body. All parts of the surroundings, including the eyes, are swollen.
The mother of the child has lodged a complaint at Kushtia Model Police Station.
According to the case statement, Siam along with his 5-year-old younger brother went to the shop of Bachchu, son of the deceased Motai, to buy ice cream at around 11 am on Friday.
Siam called Bachchu several times as he was at home, close to the home at that time. Bachchu came out of the house in an angry state and punched Siam’s right eye. Immediately the child lost consciousness and fasted.
Locals rescued Siam and took him to Kushtia General Hospital where the doctor on duty admitted him.
Seeing the incident, Bachchu said that the child had stolen Jhuribhaja from his shop.
The child is being treated in Kushtia General Hospital.
