Grants for indigent cultural workers and organisations in Kushtia

Grants have been given to indigent cultural workers and cultural organizations in Kushtia.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General, Education and ICT) Obaidur Rahman handed over the grant’s check issued by the Ministry of Culture in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner recently.A total of 134 people were given checks ranging from Tk 14,400 to 36,000.District Shilpakala Academy supervised the event.Among others, Assistant Commissioner Abu Russell, District Shilpakala Academy General Secretary Amirul Islam, District Cultural Officer Sujan Rahman, District Shilpakala Academy Joint General Secretary Shahin Sarkar and Shahidur Rahman Robi were presented at the programme.

Note that financial assistance to indigent artists and cultural organizations began in 1990.

At that time there were only 30 people included in the list. Currently this amount is much higher.Amirul Islam, general secretary of Kushtia District Shilpakala Academy
thanked the former culture minister Asaduzzaman Noor and state minister Promod Mankin for this.Shahin Sarkar, joint general secretary of the academy said the cultural activities of Kushtia under the leadership of current general secretary of district Shilpakala Academy Amirul Islam has expanded far and wide.

It will grow further if the academy building is constructed.
