A government employee has been hacked to death in Meherpur.
The deceased Farooq Ahmed, 35, son of Sakhawat Hossain of Thanapara was field worker in the town office of social service. He has two sons
The incident took place near Sadar police station around 11:30 pm on Thursday.
Meherpur Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali said Farooq was returning home after having tea at a shop at Thanapara junction around 11:30 pm. A group of terrorists hacked him with sharp weapons just 20 yards east of his house and fled.
He was later rescued by locals and taken to Meherpur General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The police superintendent said several teams of police were working to arrest the killers.
Farooq’s uncle Alauddin said, they had nothing to know of any dispute to kill him. Even there was no animosity with anyone.
Habibur Rahman, a doctor on duty at the emergency of Meherpur General Hospital, said he was stabbed in the neck, back and legs with a sharp weapon. He died of excessive bleeding.
