A schoolgirl abducted from Sharsha in Jashore has been rescued from Baripara village of Kushtia sadar upazila on Wednesday night. Two people have been arrested in the incident.

The arrested are Shakil Hossain (20) and his accomplice Ibrahim Sheikh (45). They were hailed of the village.

Sources said the girl got acquainted with Shakil Hossain on mobile phone. Sakil fallen in love with the girl. Then Shakil proposed marriage to the girl. But the girl did not agree. The student's family alleged that Shakil and his accomplice Ibrahim Sheikh abducted the girl out of anger.

The girl’s mother filed a kidnapping case against Shakil and Ibrahim at Jashore’s Sharsha police station on Wednesday (January 8) morning. Police later tracked down the mobile number and rescued the abducted student from Baripara village on Wednesday night and arrested the two abductors.

The girl’s mother said last Saturday (January 2) at around 4 pm, her daughter was returning home from school with a new book. Shakil Hossain and Ibrahim Sheikh abducted her daughter from the road in front of the school and left for Jashore on a motorcycle. People in the neighborhood showed up at the girl's screams. But they could not save the girl.

Sharsha Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Alam Khan confirmed the matter and said the abducted girl was rescued. Two arrested were produced before court in which the court sent them to jail.

OC added that the girl has been tested Jashore General Hospital. Her statement has also been recorded before the magistrate. He said the court had handed over the girl student to her mother.
