Freshwater crocodile rescued in Kushtia part of Padma River

A freshwater species of crocodile was rescued from the sand quarry area of the Padma River in Kushtia’s Mirpur Upazila on Tuesday.
Later, the crocodile was released near the Hardinge Bridge area on the evening.
The crocodile got caught in the fishing net of local fishermen near the Talbaria sandbar.
Locals gathered along the riverbank to catch a glimpse of the crocodile.
According to forest department officials, the crocodile was trapped in the net of a fisherman named Shariful Islam in the Talbaria area. The crocodile was rescued after the team reached the spot.
Kushtia’s Divisional Forest Officer, Kashyapi Bikash Chandra, stated that the crocodile is measuring 10 feet 3 inches in length and 38 inches in width. He added that it was released in the Hardinge Bridge area where the Padma River is deeper.
