Fine for selling potato at higher price

A mobile court has fined nine traders of Kushtia’s Mirpur upazila for selling potatoes at a price higher than the price fixed by the government. 

The operation was carried out at 11:30 am on Thursday (October 15) at Mirpur Bazar in Mirpur municipal area.

Mirpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Rakibul Hasan led the taskforce team.

The fine recipients are Abbas, Mehedi, Hafizul, Rahmat, Khokon, Shahjahan, Hashem, Atiyar and Sabur, vegetable traders of Mirpur Bazar. All were small retail sellers.

Executive Magistrate Rakibul Hasan said the nine traders were fined Tk 500 to each and a total of Tk 4,500 were booked.

 At the same time, instructions have been given to display the selling price of each product in the market.
