A mobile court of the district administration on Tuesday raided at a fake factory manufacturing adulterated beverage food and sentenced six months’ imprisonment to its owner.
The court also fined Tk 100,000 under Section 43 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2009 to its owner Mizanur Rahman for illegally manufacturing and marketing various types of juices and beverages using harmful chemicals.
The fake factory was identified as Sayem Food and Beverage in Harishankarpur area of Kushtia town.
Sabuj Hasan, executive magistrate of the district administration, conducted the mobile court. During the raid, large quantities of harmful chemicals and counterfeit products were seized and destroyed.
