Criminals abducted a schoolboy killed after they failed to realize ransom from the boy’s family in Meherpur. Police arrested two people in this connection.
The deceased was identified as Abir Hossain, 12.
Abir is the son of Asadul Islam, an expatriate to Malaysian from Sarishadanga village in Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga.
Abir lived at his grandfather’s house with his mother in Minapara of Gangni upazila in Meherpur. He was a V grader at Minapara Government Primary School.
Abir’s mother Shahana Khatun said that on Saturday (June 26) afternoon, Abir Hossain went to the village field on a motorcycle with Hamim and Mujahideen.
In the evening, Hamim and Mujahid came back to the village and informed the villagers that an unknown person held Abir hostage and had taken away.
Later, an unidentified person called to Abir’s mother using Abir’s mobile phone at around 8 : pm and demanded a ransom of one lakh Taka.
An hour later, Abir’s phone was found switched off, said Abir’s mother.
Later, they informed the matter to Gangni police.
A team of Gangni police went to the spot and recovered Abir’s body from the field at around 12pm with his arms and legs tied.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangni Police station Bazlur Rahman said, police arrested two of Abir’s friends on suspicion of involvement in the murder.
They are Hamim Hossain, son of Nuhu Ali of Minapara village and Mujahid, son of Miraj Hossain of the same village.
Police is still quizzing them at police station.
No case was filed till the report was filed at about 7.30:pm on Sunday.
