A school authority in Kushtia has imposed a bar on its 8 students from coming to school on charges of teasing a few female classmates.

All those who got banned are students of class X and the victims are of class VIII at The Old Kushtia High School in Kushtia Sadar Upazila.

Headmaster of the school Ashraful Haque Ujjal confirmed the matter to journalists on Thursday evening.

The headmaster stated that these male students had been harassing the female students for several months. Previously, the families of the girls had reported the incidents. Based on their written complaints submitted on Tuesday, the prohibition was imposed.

Hatohaharipur Union Parishad Chairman M Mushtaq Hossain Masud and locals were present at the school when the notice declaring the bar was imposed formally.

Chairman Mushtaq said that he went there after hearing the matter. He said that he has confirmed that the incident was true. Mushtaq claimed that the Kushtia district administration is also aware of the matter.

When asked, Kushtia Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Partha Pratim Sheel said that an investigation committee has been formed to find out the truth of the incident. Legal action will be taken against them if the allegations are proved in the investigation.

He added that the students have been barred from attending school to prevent disruption of the academic activities.
