Mobile court destroyed eight illegal brick kilns in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali upazila on Wednesday in offence of making bricks without clearance from the environment department.

The operation was led by Executive Magistrate of Environment Department Masruba Ferdous. The drive went on at Shilaidaha and Jadubayara area.

The destroyed brickyards are  Bhai Bhai Bricks owned by Miraj Sheikh of Shilaidaha, SRB Bricks of Ariful Islam of Jadubaira Union, TJB Bricks of faruk Seikh, Sagar bricks of of Al mamun, AKB bricks of Amirul Islam, Mohua bricks of Anwar Hossain, sainik bricks of karim Seikh and Nyiat briks of Samsul Islam.

According to the mobile court sources, the operation was started jointly by Khulna Environment Department and Kushtia District Office in the morning and ended in the evening.

Fire brigade personnel extinguished the fire of the brick kilns. The raw bricks were destroyed.

Ataur Rahman, Deputy Director, District Office, Department of Environment, Kamal Kumar Barman, Assistant Director and other officials were present at the drive.

Besides, RAB, police and fire service personnel were present associated with the operation.
