A mobile court fined 3 meat shops at Chourhas bazar in Kushtia town for selling diseased cattle meat on Sunday. The meat was also seized and burnt. All meat shops had no legal license.
On information that diseased cattle meat was being sold at the bazar, a mobile court led by Kushtia Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jobayer Hossain Chowdhury came to the market with a mobile court on Sunday afternoon. Upazila Livestock officer Nahid Hasan was with him.
The livestock officials examined the amount of blood clots in the meat, the colour and the fat of the meat and declared the meat to be sick cattle. The mobile court also inquired the seal of the municipal sanitary inspector.
Then all the meat was collected (50 kg) and confiscated. The meat put under the ground.
The mobile court fined a total of Tk 20,000 from three vendors for slaughtering sick animals and selling meat during the operation.
