Dhaka International Folk Music Festival, one of the largest folk music festivals in South Asia, is not happening this year due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.
The festival, organized by the Sun Foundation, has been held at the Banani Army Stadium for several years. This three-day festival was also organized last year.
Ajay Kumar Kundu, chief operating officer of Square Group’s Mediacom Limitedtold that the festival cannot be organized in Corona. However, all the necessary permissions were taken. There were no plans to cancel the festival.
“But we don’t want to take any risks because of Corona. So in the end it was decided not to organize the festival this year.
Dhaka International Folk Fest' has been held at the Army Stadium in the capital since 2015. It is organized by Square Toiletries Limited and Sun Foundation. Every time all the famous artists of folk songs from home and abroad took part in it. And it is enjoyed by millions of visitors.
