Police recovered decomposed body of a woman who was killed and buried in the kitchen for about a month.
The body was recovered from East Canalpara in Mollategharia area of the city around 8:pm on Thursday (April 15).
Murad Ali, the owner of the house, said that a tenant lived in the house. He lived with his wife.
Murad said one Al Amin rented the house on January 15. There he lived with his wife, Rimi Khatun.
According to Murad Alamin told him that his home was at Shimulia union of Khoksa upazila in the district while his wife Rimi's house was in Haripur village of Kushtia Sadar upazila. Alamin told him that he worked in a fish farm and that Rimi worked in a clinic in the town.
In the middle of last March, Alamin informed to Murad that his wife Rimi had gone to her mother's house as her mother was very ill. Then the house was found key locked from the end of March.
According to police and local sources, the lock of the door of the house was broken on Thursday afternoon. People in the area went to the house and found rotten smell and flies flying from the kitchen and suspected that there was something under the ground. The matter was informed to the police station.
A team of Kushtia Model Police Station went to the spot and dug up the soil and recovered the decomposed body.
Kushtia Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawkat Kabir said the body was decomposed and it was not yet possible to identify whether it was Rimi.
Necessary steps will be taken after investigation. The body was sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
