Death incident of a female student of Islamic University (IU) took place at her husband’s house in Meherpur. Although the girl’s husband family claimed she committed suicide by hanging herself, the girl’s family says she was murdered.
The deceased Nishat Tasnim Urmi is a student of 2017-18 academic year at Folklore Studies department.
Police recovered her body from Meherpur’s Gangni Health Complex on Thursday (September 8) night.
According to sources, Urmi had a love affair with Asfaquzzaman Prince, the son of Hashem Shah, owner of Gangni’s Padma Enterprise. They got married later in college.
They have a 13-month-old son at home.
Urmi’s father Golam Kibria told that Hashem Shah told him on mobile phone late night that Urmi was taken to Gangni Health Complex because she was sick. When he asked to know the cause of the illness, Hasem informed that Urmi hanged herself.
Getting the news, Kibria came to the health complex and found that Urmi had died.
He said there were injury marks on different parts of Urmi’s body.
“It is believed that she was killed and covered up as suicide,” Kibria told.
police recovered and sent to Meherpur general hospital.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gangni Police Station Shaheen Ali said unnatural death case was filed.
Further legal action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report, he said.
