The vernacular and top most circulated Bangla daily in Kushtia the Daink Kushtia has received primary official approval to carry out an online portal with its regular print edition. The portal can be reached as www.dainikkushtia.net.
On Thursday (September 30), the Press-1 section of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting approved the registration of 85 such on line portal in two separate orders as part of the ongoing process of registration.
Of all the registered news portals, 62 are online versions of daily newspapers and 23 are online news portals.
The Dainik Kushtia, which has been publishing in print version from Kushtia for 29 years, went on online version since March 2020. Already a lot of readers have hit the online portal. Until October 1, 2021, the average daily reader’s visits is more than seven thousand.
Meanwhile, English weekly The Kushtia Times, an associate of the daily dainik Kushtia (www.thekushtiatimes.net/com), is also being published in online platform.
The late Saifullah Khaled was founded the daily in 1992. Eminent writer, researcher and editor and publisher of the English weekly The Kushtia Times (www.thekushtiatimes.net/com) Dr. Amanur Aman bought the ownership of Dainik Kushtia in 2010. Dr. Aman is now the editor, publisher and printer of the paper.
These portals have been asked to complete the registration by submitting the fee fixed by the government within the next 20 working days. Newly registered online portals include EN Prothom Alo, Epaper.Protham Alo, News Today.com.bd, E-paper.Daily Star, Sangbad.com.bd, Independent24 etc.
As of November 29 last year, the government had approval registration of 92 dailies online and 65 online dailies.
