The Forest Department has planned to distribute one crore saplings across the country on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The programme is supposed to inaugurate by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by June 30. . 

Besides, 8 crore 25 lakh saplings will be planted this year under the regular programme, the forest department said.
Mass people, students of various educational institutions, Union Parishad, Zila Parishad, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s Office will be brought under this tree planting programme. The forest department will provide saplings.

About 20,300 saplings will be distributed in one upazila. Each upazila has an environment and forest development committee. The UNO is coordinator of the committee.  This committee will decide where saplings will be distributed.
