A Kushtia court sent 25 women involved in Jamaat-e-Islami to jail this afternoon.
The judicial magistrate court ordered them to send jail after police produced them before court.
Earlier, police arrested 25 women leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from a secret meeting on Saturday night.
Police claimed that they were meeting for sabotage. However, nothing, subversive could be recovered from them.
Islamic University Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman said all were in a secret meeting at a house next to the Jhaudia Bazar Mosque in Jhaudia Union of Kushtia Sadar on the night. A police team raided the place around 8:pm and arrested them.
The arrestees included Amir of Jhaudia Union unit Mahila Jamaat Sajeda Begum.
Besides, all of them are wives and relatives of local level Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists, the police official said.
Others include Suraiya Begum, wife of Imam Mokarram Hossain of Jhaudia Mosque, Achiya Khatun, wife of Jamaat activist Majnoor, Shefali, wife of Ziko, Jannatul, wife of Mashiur Chowdhury, Ismat Ara, wife of Ariful Islam, Parveen, wife of Murad Hossain, Nazmun Nahar, wife of Shafiqul Islam, Zarina, wife of Labu Khan. Khatun, Jahangir's wife Nargis, Abdur Rahman's wife Hajera Khatun, Jalal Mollah's wife Nazira Khatun, Abu Bakkar's wife Doly Khatun, late Sattar's wife Hajera Khatun, late Shila Mandal’s wife Jochna, Akkas Ali's wife Bijli, Golap Mandal's wife Hashia, Jalal's wife Shila.
Police filed subversive case against them and produced before a Kushtia judicial magistrate court in the afternoon.
The court sent them to jail.
