Bangladesh has shut down its all borders with India for 14 days from Monday (April 26) due to the worsening virus situation in India.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Foreign Minister AKM Abdul Momen said the movement of people in the land port will be stopped. However, the transportation of emergency goods will continue.
Those who are ready to come or will come, they will stay in Jashore border for 14 days quarantine. Even today, those who enter the country will have to stay in quarantine.
An official of the Indian High Commission said that the decision to close the border was taken by the Bangladesh government.
“We have nothing to say about it,” he said.
On Sunday morning, the Director General of Health, Professor Abul Basar Khurshid Alam told reporters that with the introduction of new forms of corona in India, it has been proposed to cut off all communication with the country except for the transportation of emergency goods.
According to Indian media reports, corona identification and infection are being recorded in the country on a daily basis.
In the last 24 hours, about three and a half lakh people in the country have been newly infected with corona. On the other hand, more than two and a half thousand people have died.
Health experts in Bangladesh say the ‘Bengal variant’ of corona identified in India is extremely deadly. This variant has 300 times the ability to transmit around.
They were also telling everyone to be careful so that this double or triple mutation virus of India could not enter the country in any way.
