Corona vaccination closed in Kushtia keeping 22000 people left

The rest of 2,000 doses of managed of Kushtia ended within one hour this morning.

There were still more than 20,000 people left to take the second dose. Even after the vaccination is over, they are still crowding the vaccination center.

Vaccination started at different centers of the district including Kalkakali Secondary School in Kushtia from Saturday morning. Till the afternoon of the day, the second dose was given to 1,513 people in the district. Total 490 vaccine was left.

To give the remaining dose, it started at 8:30 am today in the centers of Mirpur and Daulatpur upazila including Kalkakali School in Kushtia Sadar. The vaccine are completed within an hour.

Police were deployed at the immunization center as there was a risk of chaos as the number of vaccines was less than the demand.

Total 67,486 people have been vaccinated with the first dose in the district. The first dose of the vaccine was stopped on April 24. The vaccine ran out after giving to 45 thousand 51 people. The remaining 22,435 people are still worried about not getting the second dose of vaccine. 

A notice was issued to suspend vaccination for the time being from May 11.

Kushtia Civil Surgeon Dr HM Anwarul Islam said the second dose was given to 2,000 more people with the newly acquired 200 vials. The civil surgeon said efforts were being made to get more vaccines. He hopes that the rest will be vaccinated in few days.
