There is no strong resistance system in 10 districts of Khulna division to face the second wave of Coronavirus. The virus has already clumped down in different districts where average of 30 people are being identified every day. There are deaths as well. The death toll is expected to rise due to weaken of immune system.
Corona test is currently closed in Satkhira and Bagerhat out of 10 districts. Besides, one of the two RTPCR machines of Khulna Medical College Hospital has become unusable. As a result, there will be problems in testing the corona victims in Khulna, the source said.
Meanwhile, one patient died of corona in Jhenaidah and Khulna on Monday. Two died on Sunday. At present, Jashore district is at the top of the list of those affected by the second wave of corona. Other measures have been taken to prevent the second wave, including setting up an oxygen plant. The use of masks is being forced.
From mid-March to November 30 this year, one lakh 22 thousand 624 people were tested in 10 districts. Of them, 24,017 were identified as suffering from corona.
So far 425 people have died in 10 districts of the division. As of November 28, the death toll was 419. The death toll from the corona is 106 in Khulna district, 84 in Kushtia, 50 in Jessore, 38 in Jhenaidah, 37 in Chuadanga, 31 in Satkhira, 26 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail, 15 in Meherpur and 13 in Magura.
Ferdousi Begum, an assistant director (disease control) at the health director’s office in Khulna, said 18 people were diagnosed with corona on November 29 and 58 on November 30 in eight districts of the department. Of the victims on Monday, 30 were residents of Jessore.
She said oxygen plants have been set up at Chuadanga and Jhenaidah to prevent the second wave of corona. Work is underway to set up an oxygen plant at Khulna Medical College and General Hospital. As one of the two machines of Khulna Medical is useless for the sample test, it is not possible to give the report of the expatriates within 72 hours.
