Indian Border Security Force (BSF) took the dead body of a Bangladeshi citizen lying within the Indian Territory near Baldia border of Bangladesh’s Chuadanga district and handed over to Indian police.
The dead body was identified as Muntaz Hossain, a cattle trader of Chhota Baldia village under Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga. He was son of Nazrul Islam
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darshana Police Station AHM Lutful Kabir, quoting Parakrishnapur-Madna Union Parishad Chairman SAM Zakaria Alam confirmed the matter.

When contacted, chairman Zakaria Alam told that the deceased family told him that Muntaz went to the Indian border to bring cattle on Saturday (October 8) night. On Sunday morning, local Bangladeshis near to the border found his body lying inside the Indian border.

He said Muntaj’s aides had given him the information that he had died in BSF firing. The body was lying near the Pillar No. 82. Later BSF took away the body at 12 noon on Sunday.

Confirming the matter, the deceased’s brother Intazul Hossin told that Muntaz had cattle-buffalo business. He went to the border on Saturday night to ‘fetch’ buffaloes. BSF-54 of Vijaypur camp of India fired 7-8 rounds bullets around 1 am. Muntaj was shot and died within the Indian border.

Babin Mukherjee, OC of Krishnaganj police station in India told that BSF members have handed over the body of a Bangladeshi to the police station. The BSF told the police that he was illegally entered into the India and was taking buffaloes.
Legal procedures are underway at the police station, Babin said.

Director of Chuadanga-6 BGB Lt. Col. Shah Ishtiaq told that they have learned about the incident and BGB is investigating. This officer confirmed that a letter has been sent to BSF. He said it will take time to know the real fact.

Earlier in the morning, a Bangladeshi youth named Hasanur Rahman (25) was killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kushkhali area of Satkhira border.
