A case has been filed against 20 leaders and activists of Jatyia Saamjtantrik Dal (JSD) with Bheramara police station including a central leader and his brother over the killing the Awami League leader Siddiqur Rahman Siddique.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station Mojibur Rahman confirmed that the case was recorded on Saturday night.
In the case, total 20 JSD leaders and activists were named as accused.
Organising secretary of JSD central committee also general secretary of Kushtia district unit Abdul Alim Sawpan and his younger brother also chairman of Chandgram union parishad Abdul Hafiz Tapan was included in the accused list.
OC said police will investigate the matter first then will take step.
Siddiqur Rahman Siddique, 50, general secretary of AL Ward 3 of Chandgram Union was shot dead by unidentified as criminals on Friday morning. Siddique’s three younger brothers and son were also received bullet injury in the incident.
The incident took place at Charpara fiel around 9 am.
Police said Siddique was working in the field. Suddenly, a group of 4/5 people appeared there. The miscreants started firing indiscriminately. Siddique and 4 others were shot.
When the terrorists left, the locals rescued them and took to the Bheramara upazilaHealth Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Siddique dead.
After the incident, local AL leaders came on blamed against local JSD for the killing.
They even on Friday declared that case will be filed against local JSD leaders and activists in this regard.
Through, JSD centrally is one of the allies of ruling Awami League, relation in Kushtia-2 constituency (Bheramara-Mirpur) is critical where JSD central president Hasanul Haq Inu is elected lawmaker from AL led Mohajote alliance since 2008. Men of both parties engaged around 20-22 clash in clashes in last 12 years left three AL activists killed.
Organising secretary of JSD central committee also general secretary of Kushtia district unit Abdul Alim Sawpan who is key accused in the case told to the daily star that Siddique murder was sequel of two family’s previous enmity.
Beside, Rafique Ul Alam Chunu, president of Bheramara upazila unit AL also elder brother of AL central joint general secretary Mahbul ul Alam Hanif told that killers involved were identified as local JSD activists. The killing took place over instruction of JSD leaders.
