BSF killed a Bangladeshi in Chuadanga border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi national at Damurhuda border in Chuadanga.

The incident took place at Thakurpur border on Sunday (October 18) morning.

The deceased was identified as Umedul Islam, 32, son of Shahidul Islam of Thakurpur village of the upazila.

According to the family of the victim and locals,  4-5 Bangladeshi cattle traders including Umedul used to bring cattle to the border and on the morning, they went as usual  at around 4 am. They were waiting for Indian cattle sellers near Pillar No. 89 at Zero Point on the border.

Meanwhile, BSF members patrolling of Hudapara camp in Murshidabad district of West Bengal chased the Bangladeshi people. At one stage, the BSF opened fire and Umedul was shot dead on the spot.

Chuadanga-6 BGB director Mohammad Khalequzzaman told over the phone that a letter has been sent to the BSF asking for the return of the body of the slain Bangladeshi.

The BSF however, did not reply till the report was filling.

On June 26, BSF members from the same camp captured two Bangladeshi cattle traders from the same border, tortured them with bayonets and released them.

This is the first killing by BSF after  director general-level conference between the border forces of Bangladesh and India have concluded in Dhaka with a fresh a promise from the Indian side that they would “try their best” to bring down killings along the border to zero in last month.
