Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader today has termed BNP's road march as its "funeral procession" and said the party's backward passage has started with this programme.
"BNP's mass-uprising has failed. Where is their shouting? Where is their mass upsurge? Now their funeral procession begins, not a road march. They will be defeated in this way in the movement and the next elections. They will face their political death in the polls," he apparently said.
Quader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a rally in protest of BNP's "terrorism and anarchy" in front of Amin Market at Ajampur, Uttara in the capital, Dhaka today.
AL's Dhaka City North unit settled the rally.
Winter clothes were also spread among people hit by cold in the programme.
The AL general secretary said BNP secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is now making none other than hollow comments and uttering falsehoods.
"We have been bound to reply to their comments," he said.
Quader said AL is on the streets and will continue taking to the streets.
He also said AL is always with the people whether or not it wins in the polls. "If people cast their vote in favour of us, we will be elected.
"If they don't want us, we will quit. This is the politics of Awami League," he added.
