Bin explosion/Two workers severely burnt in a factory in Chuadanga

Two workers were seriously burnt in a bin explosion inside the Caron Pokpand Bangladesh, a private animal feed production factory in Chuadanga on Tuesday.

The accident took place at the factory located at Subdia village in Sadar upazila around 10am on Tuesday. The families of the dairy workers have complained that the authorities keep the matter secret.

The injured workers are Tanjin Arif Sajib, 29, son of Abdur Rashid of Begnagar village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila and Abdullah Al Mamun, 28, son of Golam Mandal of Manikdihi in the same upazila.

They are now undergoing treatment at burn unit of Dhaka medical College hospital after they were referred from Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Saiful Hasnat, assistant vice-president of the company, said Tanjin Hossain Arif went to clean the corn and soybean bins at around 10am when it inadvertently exploded. Another worker named Abdullah Al Mamun was burnt who was there. They were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital an hour later at around 11am.

physician of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital Jannatul Ferdous said the condition of the injured workers was not good. Their faces, two hands, chest and various parts of the body were burnt. As the condition was critical, they were referred to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2pm.

Manzil Hossain, brother of injured worker Tanjin Hossain Arif, said the company authorities did not allow them to enter when they went to search for their relatives working there after receiving information about the bin explosion.

Chuadanga Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Jihad Fakrul Alam Khan said police were aware of the matter but no one had lodged complaint yet.
