President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated Bangladesh's position on the establishment of an independent, cohesive and sustainable Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders. In a separate message on the occasion of the International Day of Palestinian Solidarity on 29 November, the President and the Prime Minister reiterated Bangladesh's full support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, national independence and sovereignty.
In his message, the President said, "On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Bangladesh reiterates its full support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination."
"We reiterate our policy position to establish an independent and sustainable Palestinian state on a bipartisan basis, with Al Quds al-Sharif as its capital along the 1966 border with East Jerusalem," he added.
Abdul Hamid said that in line with the direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and our Constitution, Bangladesh has always supported the people fighting for their rights against imperialism, colonialism and racism.
He added that the Father of the Nation, in his first speech at the UN General Assembly in 1974, at the Second OIC Conference in 1974 and at the Fourth Nomination Conference in 1973, fully supported the struggle of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination. Bangladesh has been steadfast in this position since independence.
