Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police Shoumen Kumar Roy lone accused in triple murder in Kushtia has admitted his guilty in court.
He told that he carried out incident out of anger. But it was his crime to kill the 7-year-old child. He expressed his remorse for this.
Shoumen testified under Section 164 in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim on Monday (June 14) from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) also investigation officer (IO) of the case Nishikant Saha confirmed it to The Kushtia Times.
At the end of the deposition, the judge ordered Shoumen to be sent to jail.
Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Farhad Hossain Khan said Shoumen was produced before court in connection with the shooting death of three people. He said two murder cases have already been filed against him.
In the court, Shoumen claimed to be the husband of the slain Asma. He said he married Asma two years ago. However, when asked if he had shown any evidence in favor of the marriage, the police official said Shoumen said he would submit the evidence in court in due process by his own.
Soumen claims he wanted to take Asma to Khulna. But she did not agree. He was angry at this. Shoumen thought Asma was doing it because of Shakil Khan who was killed in the incident. Soumen suspected that Asma had a relationship with Shakil Khan. Due to this, Asma was following the advice given by Shakil.
On the day of the incident, he repeatedly asked Asma what her relationship was with Shakil. When Asma was silent on the matter, he pulled out a pistol and fired, saying, “I will kill them all.”
He told to the court that he did not want to kill the minor boy Robin. But at one stage it happened.
He also told to the court that he left his workplace without permission. He also admitted that he brought service pistols and bullets.
Shoumen opened fire in front of the city's customs office around 11:45 am on Sunday, killing three people. The deceased were identified as Asma Khatun, 25, her 7-year-old son Robin and Shakil Khan, 26.

The deceased Asma was of Naturia in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali upazila. However, she lived in Kushtia town.

“As Shouma has claimed in court that Asma is his wife, the police have nothing to say about it," said Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Farhad Hossain Khan to The Kushtia Times.
However, Asma’s mother and family members were claiming that Asma met Soumen while working in Kushtia. Soumen married her two years ago.
On the other hand, Shakil was hailed at Sawnta village of Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia.
He is a local agent of money transfer system Bksh.
