The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will run in virtual way. The case will be heard 5 days a week. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has taken this decision. This instruction will be effective from July 19. The regular schedule of the cases on appeal will be published on the website of the Supreme Court.
Tuesday (July 14), the Registrar of the Appellate Division, Badrul Alam Bhuiyan has issued a notification in this regard.
The first virtual hearing of the Supreme Court's appellate division began on July 13. The next day, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain decided to run the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court five days a week.
The hearing will be held from 10 am (1:15 pm) to 1:15 pm on Sundays and Thursdays until further order.
The government enacted information technology ordinance on May 9 during public holiday in the wake of coronavirus infections. The use of information technology in audio-video or any other electronic method creates the opportunity to conduct trials through virtual presence without physical presence.
The ordinance became law on July 9.
According to the provisions of the ordinance, in the case of Appellate Division and High Court Division, separate practice direction for virtual courts, manual for virtual courtroom use for lawyers, special practice guidelines for virtual hearings in lower courts and tribunals are published.
