More 74 people identified as Corona positive in last 24 hours in Kushtia. With this the number of victims with Covid-19 in the district stood up to 1952.
The Kushtia health department said this amount of Coronavirus positive people found testing 196 samples in 6 upazilas in the district. The test result was revealed on August 4 night from district Civil Surgeon office. The test was carried out at PCR lab of Kushtia medical College.
Resident medical officer (RMO) of Kushtia general hospital Tapos Kumar Sarker said, of the 74 identified, 45 were in Kushtia Sadar, 17 in Kumarkhali, 7 in Mirpur and 4 in Daulatpur.
The health experts in Kushtia earlier apprehended that Corona infection is expected to increase again after this Eid as like last Eid. They cautioned that this Eid was very risky, because the mad rash of people to the village level from town and setup the number of cattle market there.
“It is obviously clear that many people will not follow the health rules to go the market and in collecting meat from sacrificial animals. This will increase the rate of infection will be higher,” said physician Tapos Kumar Sarker.
According to the general rules of corona, the infection rate of the patient is seen after two weeks and the death rate after three weeks. Infections are now more outside Dhaka than in the capital Dhaka. People are mixing in ferry gaht, villages.
SM Mustanzid Lotus, former principal of Kushtia Medical College who has been working with Corona patients since the beginning of the virus said the experience was not good in previous Eid.
“If everything had been handled properly, the number of patients might have been reduced by August-September, but instead of that, the number of patients will increase now, another big push is waiting for the middle of this month,” Mustnzid said.
Meanwhile, experts say that the country has not been able to create as much awareness as it should have. Hygiene could not be observed from the beginning. People are not aware, they have a tendency to disobey the law.
He said a number of people came to Kushtia from Dhaka on the Eid.
“The more infected people are in Dhaka, the more they will go to the villages and there will be another ‘Rise’ in mid-August,” the health expert said.
The health experts urged that the people now have to follow the rules necessary to check the virus.
