Seven people were killed in an ambulance cylinder explosion in Faridpur. Several others were injured. The accident took place in the Maligram area of the upazila at around 11 o'clock on Saturday (June 24).
Bhanga police station Sub-Inspector (SI), who is Khalid Mahmud said that the ambulance lost control on the Maligram flyover on the Dhaka-Bhanga highway and caught fire after colliding with the divider. Later the cylinder in the ambulance exploded. Police and fire service personnel brought the fire under control. The driver was rescued and sent to the hospital, but the seven people in the ambulance died of burns.
Bhanga Fire Service Officer, Md. Zafar said the passengers of the ambulance were burnt to ashes. Attempts are being made to recover the body and identify it.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, who is Taimur Islam said that the police have been sent to the spot. Details will be given.
