The all three sculptures have been placed on the main pillar of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under construction in Kusthia. The last of the three sculptures was restored to the main pillar last Tuesday night with the help of a crane.
The sculpture portrayed the style of Bangabandhu as presented the historical 6-point demand in 1966.
According to the plan, Bangabandhu's speech of March 7 in one of the other two has been presented in the style of receiving greetings after returning home from Pakistan jail.
At the same time, the tiled carving portray of four national leaders Syed Nazrul Islam, Taj Uddin Ahmed, Mohammad Mansur Ali and Abul Hasnat Mohammad Kamaruzzaman will be placed around the main pillar.
Repairing have already been completed to the first sculpture that was demolished by the miscreants. The sculpture still has a police guard.
Kushtia Municipality initiated to build three sculptures of Bangabandhu in the town on the occasion of Mujib’s birth centenary. The sculpture was planned by Kushtia Municipality Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Anwar Ali himself. The place is fixed at the intersection of Panch Rastar More of the town near the municipality. Sculptor Mahbub Jamal Shamim got the job worth Tk 35 lakh through tender. The site was handed to him over at the end of October. The target was to inaugurate the sculpture on December 16, the day of the great victory.
The first sculpture was installed on November 13.
Meanwhile, on the night of December 5, damage was done to that sculpture. Two students of a Qawmi Madrasa in Kushtia town beat the sculpture with a hammer and broke the index finger of the right hand. The face of the sculpture is also damaged. The incident sparked a storm of protests across the country. Two teachers of the same madrasa were arrested along with the two students.
After being stopped for a few days due to the incident, the work of replacing the sculpture started again.
Kushtia Municipality Executive Engineer Rabiul Islam said the construction work of the sculpture is progressing fast. He said the sculpture will be unveiled on March 7.
Sculptor Mahbub Jamal Shamim said the work is going on smoothly. The construction work will be completed within the stipulated time.
Kushtia Municipality Mayor Anwar Ali said that no conspiracy and obstacle could be stopped the construction of the sculpture of Bangabandhu. Because Bangabandhu made this country independent by overcoming many big obstacles.
The mayor said the sculpture would be unveiled within the stipulated time.
