Awami League candidate Shahin Chakladar has been elected unofficially in the by-election of Jessore-6 constituency.
Jessore District Awami League General Secretary Shahin Chakladar got 1 lakh 24 thousand 3 votes.
Shahin Chakladar from Awami League, Abul Hossain Azad from BNP and Habibur Rahman from Jatiya Party were the candidates. The BNP boycotted the vote. However, 2,012 votes were cast for the paddy sheaf symbol and 1,608 votes for the plow symbol of the Jatiya Party.
Total 1 lakh 29 thousand 7 out of 2 lakh 3 thousand 17 voters have cast their votes in this constituency.
Voting takes place from morning till 5 pm with the necessary security equipment for voters and election officials to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
The seat was declared vacant on January 21 after the death of Jessore-6 MP Ismat Ara Sadeq.
