A branch of a government owned bank has been declared locked down as five officers and employees of the bank were infected by corona (Covid-19) within a week.
The bnak is Agrani Bank Kumarkhali branch.
Agrani Bank Kumarkhali Branch Manager (SPO) Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy confirmed on the lockdown.
According to the manager, senior officer of the bank Hasan Ali first came under Covid-19 positive. That was July 3. Then on July 8, another Principal Officer Imtiaz Zaman's corona test report found positive. Over the row of the two, all other officers and employees of the bank brought under test.
Last Thursday (July 9), three more officers and employees of the branch received positive reports. They are Officer Cash Tarun Hossain, Field Assistant Mustaq Ahmed and cleaner Nasima Khatun. In addition to the victims, one or two other officials and employees of the bank are also ill, with corona symptoms on their bodies.
The bank has a total of 18 officers and employees including 4 Ansar members.
Meanwhile, the bank authorities are in favor of continuing the banking activities with the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha in mind.
Agrani Bank's Kushtia district DGM Wahedul Islam said, “We don't want the branch to be locked down.” We are in favor of keeping the branch open even in limited.
Kumarkhali Upazila Family Planning Officer Akul Uddin said the bank authorities wanted to keep the bank open even in limited way. But if the bank is open, the customers will come. In this case, all the customers-officers-employees have health risks.
“So we decided to lock down the bank branch,” Dr. Akul said.
Kumarkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rajibul Islam Khan announced the lockdown of the bank on Friday morning.
A total of three banks in Kushtia were declared locked down. Earlier, the Poradah branch of Pubali Bank and Islami Bank was declared locked down.
