The ACC Kushtia Coordinating Office has filed two separate cases against the headmaster of a 150-year-old traditional school in Kushtia and his wife for embezzling school property and embezzling crores of rupees.
The accused are Khalilur Rahman, 58, headmaster of Kushtia High School and his wife Bilkis Rahman, 48.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Kushtia coordinating office filed the case.
Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Tahidul Islam took cognizance of the two cases on Monday. ACC’s advocate Al-Mujahid Mithu submitted the statement signed by ACC Kushtia District Coordinating Office Deputy Director Mohammad Zakaria to the court.
According to the case, Bilkis Rahman (48), wife Khalilur Rahman, has gathered Tk. 55 lakh 33 thousand, 564 out of the known income from October 8, 2002 to August 18, 2020. During the investigation, Bilkis could not give any satisfactory answer to the question of ACC which is a clear violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, DB 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the ACC Act 2004.
Similarly, Md. Khalilur Rahman, son of late Moin Uddin Ahmed, a resident of Paharpur village of Sadar upazila, failed to show any valid source of income of Tk 52, 55, 169 lakh during the period of February 25 2015 to August 18 2020.
Separate case was filed against Khalilur Rahman as it appeared that the same type of crime had been committed as his wife Bilkis Rahman.
An influential group in guise of teaching and school managing committee has been looting and embezzling in various ways in broad daylight. The school headmaster Khalilur Rahman is one of them, many sources alleged.
This correspondent phoned Khalilur Rahman to converse but his mobile phone found switched off.
