A young man named Al Amin (25) was beaten up with an iron rod and died while undergoing treatment in Shorardah village of Jhikargacha upazila of Jessore. He died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Jessore General Hospital.
The deceased Al Amin is the son of Abul Kalam Azad of Bausha village of Jhikargacha upazila. He was living in the house of his father-in-law Muslim Uddin in the neighbouring village of Shorardah.
In this incident, a young accused, who is named Imran Sardar (21) was arrested and the police recovered the iron rod used in the murder. The detained Imran is the son of Azizur Sardar of Shiordah village of Jhikargacha upazila.
According to police and local resident sources, Al Amin and Imran used to stay together. A few days ago, Al Amin apparently borrowed 2 thousand 400 taka from Imran. When he later asked for the money, there were several arguments between the two. Last Saturday night, Al Amin visited an under-construction building next to his in-laws’ house. Imran goes there and asks for the money owed to him.
At one stage of the argument, Imran beat Al Amin with an iron rod in the building and left him there. Al Amin fell down from that building at night. In the morning local people found him lying and admitted him to Jessore General Hospital. He died at around 9:30 am while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargacha police station, who is Suman Bhakta told the media that, there was an argument between Al Amin and Imran, regarding the demand for the due money. Imran beat Al Amin with an iron rod from the under-construction building when he refused the offer. Then Al Amin died while undergoing treatment.
Stating that Imran has been arrested this morning, the OC also said that the iron rod used in the murder has been seized. The case is being prepared.
