Man sent to jail in rape case in Kushtia

A court has sent a so called Awami League leader to jail in a rape case in Kushtia.

The accused is Nuruzzaman alias Palash Mollah, son of Dawood Master of Majihat area of ​​Kursha union in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia.

He is the president of the Kushtia district branch of a so called organization named Bangabandhu Adarsh ​​Oikya Parishad that is not approved by Awami League.

According to the case, Nuruzzaman had been raping a landless woman in Majhihat village of Kursha union in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia for a long time. At one stage the woman became introverted. Later, the woman, who was 6 months pregnant, was given medicine to have an abortion on the advice of a local doctor. Last Thursday (October 15) at noon, the woman gave birth to a stillborn baby girl at her home.

The woman’s mother filed a case against Palash Mollah. Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) of Mirpur Police Station Sanjay Kumar Kundu said the victim’s mother filed a case with the Mirpur Police Station under the Women and Children Oppression prevention Act October 16. The woman testified under section 22 in the incident at night. Police arrested Palash Mollah. Police arrested Polash on October 17.

The woman’s medical test has been completed. He said that when the accused was handed over to the court on Saturday afternoon, he had confessed to all his misdeeds by giving a confessional statement under section 164 in the case of rape.

After the confessional statement, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
