Seminar on The Role of Readers and Libraries in Preventing Decay held in Kushtia

Speakers at a discussion titled “The Role of Readers and Libraries in Preventing Decay” organized by the Bangladesh Besorkari Gronthagar Parishad in Kushtia said that many possibilities would be lost if library-books were lost; A lot of creation and creativity will be lost. So we have to protect the library, we have to protect the books.

Malik Khasru, central adviser to the organisation also former Assist Inspector General (AIG)of  police, addressed the seminar as chief guest held at Kushtia Government Public Library.

Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman, eminent writer, researcher, editor and publisher of the Daily Dainik Kushtia and The Kushtia Times Dr. Amanur Aman, political personality comrade Hafiz Sarkar were present as special guests. Imam Hossain, president of the organisation was chief discussant and Nasim Ahmed, Secretary General was special discussant.

Among others Nasir Uddin Master, Prof. Jamirul Islam, Prof. Shafiqul Islam, MA Munib, Shyamoli Islam spoke at the event. Welcoming remarks were made by SS Rushdie, Joint-Secretary, Bangladesh of the organisation. The programme was conducted by Amirul Islam Tushar.

The speakers told that the existence of the book is intertwined with human life. Life cannot be fulfilled without books. Life without a book is like an incomplete and unfinished boat.

The chief guest Malik Khasru in his speech told that the library could not be lost from Bangladesh. He called upon all to come to the rescue of this precious resource. He said the incumbent Prime Minister must be kind and support the country-wide initiative.

According to the organization’s research, there are about 2,500 private libraries in the country at present. These have been surviving with great difficulty. The organization is agitating with 21 points of demand.

The distinguished writer, researcher, editor of the daily Dainik Kushtia and the editor and publisher of The Kushtia Times Dr Amanur Aman presented 14 of his books to Malik Khasru, the chief adviser of the organization.

Later, Amirul Islam Tushar was made the president and Professor Jamirul Islam was made the general secretary of the Kushtia Committee.
