Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain said the burden of consequences of unplanned urbanization has to bear to those we are carrying this. Be it today or two days later. He urged the city dwellers not to build any unplanned structures anywhere. He said this as the city belongs to everyone, so it is the responsibility to protect it equally.
He said this in his speech as chief guest at a discussion meeting on the occasion of World Habitat Day 2020 on October 5, keeping in view the theme “Housing for all- A better Urban Future.”
The event was organized by the District Administration and Public Works Department, Kushtia held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
“We are constantly putting pressure on the city,” he said. Not all of these pressures are so necessary. There are many of them that are absolutely unplanned. These are the risks.
He called upon all the authorities in charge of the city to scrutinize and approve any housing or installation before approving it.
The deputy commissioner further said that due to unplanned urbanization, housing facilities are not being ensured. Sustainable and safe settlements that are healthy and rich in light and air should be established keeping in light the environment.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Lutfun Nahar presided over the meeting while Public Works Department, Kushtia’s Executive Engineer Ariful Islam was present as special guests.
