Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-12 in Kushtia in a special drive against adulteration seized huge adulterated commodities were being produced inside two tobacco companies in the district.
Acting Company Commander of Rab-12 CPC-1 Assistant Superintendent of police Mostafizur Rahman and District Consumer Protection Department’s Assistant Director Kazi Rakibul Hasan were present during the drive.
According to Rab, they had information that two tobacco companies at Jugia Baradi area in outskirts of Kushtia town names Bengal tobacco and Vergon tobacco were producing adulterated daily essential commodities like harpic, glass cleaner, tiles cleaner, vixel, thinner, detergent powder etc using fake registration. They have been producing and marketing these products for a long time in different parts of the country.
Later, two companies were fined Tk 2 lakh in a mobile court under Section 53 of the Consumer Protection Act 2009.
And adulterated goods have been destroyed by fire.
