The government has appointed appointed two members for a full term at the University Grants Commission (UGC). The directive was issued by the Ministry of Education on Thursday (September 3) by order of the President.
The two members are the chairman of the law and land department of Rajshahi University, Professor Biswajit Chanda and Professor of Management at the University of Chittagong Md. Abu Taher.
They have been appointed for a term of four years, but the government may, if it deems it necessary, dismiss any member before the stipulated period. During the working period from the day of joining, they will enjoy additional benefits as a member with all the benefits running as a member.
Meanwhile, the UGC has five member posts in the management of public and private universities in the country, but for a long time two posts were vacant.
