A book of lyric poems written on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been unveiled in Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia on Friday evening.
The name of the book is “Father of the Nation Speaks”. The lyric poems were written by Nazrul Islam Palash. He is a tailor in profession with little education. The book was published in this year Ekushey’s book fair.
Kumarkhali Chapra Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and Kumarkhali Upazila Juba League General Secretary Monir Hasan Rintu presided over the ceremony.
Top Kushtia Awami League leader also panel mayor of Kushtia municipality Motiar Rahman Majnu was chief guest there.
The special guests included eminent writer, researcher, editor and publisher of the daily Kushtia and English weekly The Kushtia Times and a senior official of the Islamic University Amanur Aman, Kumarkhali Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary also Shilaidaha UP Chairman Salauddin Khan Tarek, Kumarkhali Upazila Juba League President also Municipality Panel Mayor Harun-ur-Rashid, Kumarkhali Lecturer of Bashangram Alauddin Ahmed Degree College Ali Hossain, Sonali Bank official Mukul Hossain, poet Wazed Bangali and others spoke.
The chief guest in his speech told that Bangladesh cannot be known without knowing Bangabandhu. Bangladesh has a long history of struggle for liberation. Bangabandhu was the only hero in that history. His struggle was for Bangladesh’s independence. He thanked the writer for being an ordinary man who has raised Bangabandhu in front of the nation with his songs. He hoped that he would take initiative so that the book could reach Bangabandhu’s daughter, the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Special guest Dr. Amanur Aman in his speech told that many countries of the world have become independent in many ways, there are also architects of independence, and there are also many heroes of independence. But Bangladesh is the only country where the architect of independence and the independent country are one and the same. Where Bangabandhu had no equal.
He said Bangabandhu awakened a nation with a nationalist spirit, a spirit of liberation and an independent land. This is rare in the history of the world. He called Nazrul Islam Palash, the author of the lyric poem “Father of the Nation speaks”, a real soldier of the liberation war. He said that selfless writers like Palash are scattered all over the country and they should be brought under evaluation.
UP Chairman Salauddin Khan Tareq said Nazrul Islam Palash has opened the eyes of many of us on how to work selflessly. He has written a song about a man who is the man of thousand years, surrounded by a great passion of a Bengali. He believes this pen soldier will be valued.
Juba League leader Harun-ur-Rashid said much more needs to be written about Bangabandhu, spreading him from generation to generation.
In his speech, Monir Hasan Rintu said that he had tried to portray Nazrul Islam Palash out of conscience. In the midst of many adversities from remote villages, a man with a long pursuit has been composing innumerable songs about him as a soldier of the Father of the Nation’s ideals and has been telling people that this is a great task for the country.
