Nongar Kushtia chapter’s tree plantation programme inaugurated

On the occasion of the Mujib centenary, birth anniversary of founder father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the national level social organization ‘Nongar’ opened a tree plantation programme on the banks of Gorai river.
On Thursday (July 30), the event was inaugurated by Kushtia Sadar Upazila Chairman also General Secretary of Kushtia Town unit Awami League Ataur Rahman.
It is a part of the central programme of plantation trees on 100 river banks across the country by the organisation.
Among others, Chairman at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the Islamic University and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad, Kushtia Islamic University Professor Dr. Mahbubul Arfin, prominent businessman also Patron of Sammilita Samajik Jote, Ajay Sureka, Chairman of Sammilita Samajik Jote, writer, researcher and editor and Publisher of Bangla daily The Dainik Kushtia and English Weekly The Kushtia Times Dr. Amanur Aman and Bangladesh Mahila Awami League, Kushtia unit President Jeb-un-Nisa (Sabuj) were present and spoke as special guests.
Shahabuddin Milon, Founder President of the voluntary organization ‘Manush Manusher Jonno and Mohammad Ali Nishan, General Secretary of Kushtia Sadar Upazila Sports Association and Joint Convener of Kushtia town unit Juba League were also present as as guests honour.
Convener of ‘Nongar, Kushtia’ Khalilur Moju presided over the programme.
At the beginning of the programme, Sumon Shams, the dreamer and central president of ‘Nongar’ announced the inauguration of the tree planting programme through a video call. The chief guest, special guests, distinguished guests and members of Nongar planted saplings of forest, fruit and medicinal plants on the banks of Gorai river.
In his welcome address, Shaibal Aditya, Member-Secretary, ‘Nongar, Kushtia’, thanked the guests. He thanked the ‘Green Environment Movement’ and the ‘Sammilito Samajik Jote ‘ for cooperating with the saplings.
Ataur Rahman Ata, the chief guest, said, “Trees are human’s greatest friend.” There is no alternative to planting trees to maintain the balance of nature. At the call of Prime Minister and Leader of the People Sheikh Hasina, governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as various social organizations, especially the youth, have taken initiative in tree planting which is very hopeful.
Special guests in their speeches emphasized on planting trees as well as care and monitoring of planted trees.
Shams-e-Tanvir, Pritam Majumder, Rakibul Hasan (Rico), Nabbir Al Nafiz and others also spoke on behalf of ‘Nongar, Kushtia’.

In his speech, Khalilur Maju, convener of ‘Nongar, Kushtia’ thanked all and announced the end of the program.
Poet and journalist Shaibal Aditya, member-secretary of ‘Nongar, Kushtia’ conducted the programme.
