An elder brother Russell was shot dead by his younger over a family quarrel in Benapole in Jashore.. The incident took place at Kagazpukur village in Benapole on Wednesday (July 29) morning.
The deceased was identified as Russell, son of Idris Ali of the village. Police arrested his younger brother Amjad Hossain with a pistol, three rounds of ammunition and a knife.
Benapole Port Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Khan said the siblings had an argument around 10:30 am due to a family quarrel. At one point, Amjad pulled out a pistol and fired at his elder brother Russell. Russell was shot and fell to the ground. He later died on the way to the hospital.
The OC further said that the body of the deceased has been recovered from the spot.
Police arrested Amjad from a nearby village with a pistol, three rounds of ammunition and a knife.
A court sent Amjad to jail.
